Architect: Collado Collins Architects
Centro was involved in the development process from the very beginning for this complex site. The site is spatially very constrained, with the DLR viaduct running over approximately two thirds of the site. Further, the site is envisaged by TfL to provide a bus loop interchange with Blackwall DLR Station.
The site is also within the red line of the Blackwall Reach outline planning permission, although the freeholder intended to bring forward their own vision for the site. Centro successfully built officers’ support for a 24-storey apart-hotel on the site, which was a much more successful optimisation of the site compared to two short blocks envisaged in the Blackwall Reach outline consent. Centro secured planning permission in February 2020.
