Centro implemented its planning strategy to optimise an existing planning permission for a change of use of an underground car park to hotel, with additional rooms. An officer recommendation to approve was secured however the Planning Committee overturned it. A solution was sought via the appeal channel and also via negotiations with the Council. A revised application for a hotel with 187 rooms was submitted and approved by the Planning Committee in January 2023. The final decesion notice was issued in April 2023 following s.106 negotiations.
